Description

Product Description

Writing series can be a great way to level up your author career, create a more stable writing income, and create a devoted fanbase. It's also challenging, and can be overwhelming if you're not prepared. Series authors need to consider many things that standalone title authors don't have to worry about. And everything is exponentially more complex once you're tackling more than one book! You might be wondering:

  • What kind of series should I write?
  • Which details do I need to keep track of?
  • How much advance planning should I do?
  • Is publishing strategy different for a series vs standalone titles?
  • How can I get the most bang for my buck in marketing and promotion?

Experienced series author Crystal Hunt will help you answer all these questions and more with this combination strategy manual and exercises that will get you applying what you've learned to your own series project.

Whether you're a seasoned series author, or just starting to explore your options and thinking a series might be a good next step for you, this book can help you write and publish your series smarter from ideas through publication and promotion!

This is the third book in the Creative Academy Guides for Writers series. Be sure to check out the rest of the guides for writers in this series.

If you're an indie author, you're also by default a strategic publishing professional and business-person. And you'll know how important writing a series is to solve the perennial problem of discoverability, attention and book sales. You'll know there are a number of successful series authors out there. And people are telling you that you must write a series to be successful.
But no one is telling you how to do that or what's important – until now!
Author Crystal Hunt not only has her own successful series well underway, she's one of the most strategic, analytical, clear and organized indie publishing teachers out there. You will find everything you need to get started on writing, publishing and selling that successful book series right here. She's gathered information, tried it and tested it, and taken the time to weed out the junk from the jewels. A unique, timely and exceptional resource for indie authors.

I read this book in a single weekend. It is well paced and simple to read and understand. It provided a ton of tools lists and resources that led me to the book I had been looking for. While this book didn’t help me define and tweak my craft it did provide me the resources that worked. I loved the use of white space that makes it so much easier to read. It was super helpful for someone who is planning to publish but I am at the plotting stages. It offered great come back to elements. I loved the reminder or note to read the book thoroughly first then go back I get lost in reading and doing sometimes with these sort of books. In all if your writing a series or even to publish gave excellent references lists tools and resources that will be valuable as I move through this process.

If you're ready to take the plunge in self-publishing, consider writing series. Crystal Hunt not only explores the reasons why series are a genre author's best bet, but also navigates the waters of the business end of publishing and takes readers along on her journey. With this guidebook, newbies to self-publishing can avoid the pits and traps that inevitably come with flying blind. Can't wait to apply all the knowledge I've gleaned from this gem. Can't wait to order the rest of the books in Hunt's series for authors. Highly recommend for any writer looking to take the next step with his/her novel--something in here for any level of aspiring novelist, from those just starting out to those ready to publish.

I have just finished reading this through for the first time, as it recommends, and will be starting it again straight away to do all the activities suggested. It's very well written & is a real inspiration to aspiring writers. It also helps you think like a CEO of your own business. I have already done a degree in creative writing, but still nagged by self-doubt. This book has given me a belief that I can write & I do have an audience out there waiting to read my books. Thanks Crystal.
