I love that it's small, light and so tough! I have back ups, but I trust this drive with all my daily digital files.
Don't waste your time worry about this drive's read/write speeds and all that other junk. Most of us use these items infrequently enough that we don't need to even think twice about the speeds at which you can theoretically write to the drive. In most cases you're going to be limited by your computer's hard drive write speed and how much stuff your antivirus is doing at the time you're trying to move the files around... It's plenty fast and I've not had any issues with file transfer speeds.
The most important thing to know about this key-drive is that it's pretty much indestructible. Over the last 10 years, I've had almost every type of key drive that you can possibly imagine (flip open, thumb open, retractable, cap covered, tube encased, etc) from almost every manufacturer. This is the ONLY one that I've had that's lasted me 6 months and hasn't broken on me yet! I have a rather large set of keys that I attach my key drives to and I somehow always manage to break them in under 6 months... This one can handle a serious beating, or keying, or pocket abusing, or whatever you'd like to call it. It's not showing any signs of damage at all and looks like it did the same day I received it in the mail.
Also, I remember when 8 and 16 GB were 60, 70, 80 dollars. Memory was ridiculous, price wise. I got this thing for 23 something on Amazon. I've recommended it to my brothers, friends,....even my wife. So far so good. I think it's great! Highly recommend. There you go! My review. And an honest, currently on my mind one, too.
Drives over 32 gig will by default be formatted to exFat 32 in newer version of Windows. While files can be stored on the thumb drive after you format, the music or video players (or video computer applications like VLC media player) will not play the files.
You will need to reformat the thumb drive to regular Fat 32. You can try to do it via a command line prompt but it did not work for me. Instead, there is a free program called MiniTool Partition Wizard (you can get it from the CNET website and it is free):
Follow the directions to create a formatted Fat 32 drive and your music and video files will play. I also tested it on three HP one terabyte and they also worked.
If you have ever tried to use large gigabyte-capacity USB (Flash) drives to watch, say a show and it doesn't work, here are two tips:
1. Make sure your files are encoded in MPGII (DVD quality) unless your USB in your DVD player is compatible with MP4 or other formats.
2. Your large capacity USB drive must be formatted to FAT32. This is something Windows does not do, but by searching 'FAT32 Format,' you should be able to find a utility that does this.
Hope that helps
