The unit (128GB white lighting model) itself works as advertised (granted you grasp how to use it), but there are a few reasons why I am only giving it a 3 star rating. For starters, if you have anything but an ultra slim, super thin case on your phone, you won't be able to insert this device in without removing the phone from its case. If you have one of those "pain in the you know what" cases to take on and off like I do, it's definitely a nuisance. Second, when the device is in use, it will significantly drain your phones battery. Since it occupys the power port, you have no alternative means to keep your phone charged or charging. Last but not least, data transfer speeds are somewhat on the slower side.

This flash drive is a must! As our digital lives jump from one device to another, be it a PC at work, a Chromebook at school, or a smartphone or tablet at play, you want data storage that fits your specific needs. The current state of online storage is a bit cloudy (pun intended), and you don't want to be caught empty-handed when your Internet connection hits a snag. With the convenience of cloud storage, USB flash drives might seem like old news, but the best are portable, fast, near-indestructible, and offer tons of space—enough that they’re worth having. When you want to grab and go with your digital files, nothing tops a basic USB flash drive. Whether you're storing homework, hoarding digital media, or sharing sensitive info via sneakernet, these small, pocketable drives should be your go to storage device. The all-aluminum casing makes it just durable enough to go on a keychain and stand up to the drops and bumps your keyring might take, but it’s small enough to fit smoothly into a USB port anywhere without blocking adjacent ports. I like this one for its design and the key fob so that I can throw it on my keyring. I recommend this usb drive!

I can't speak for everyone but I am surprised to see so many terrible reviews for this drive. I originally bought this item in May of 2013 after quickly realizing 1GB wasn't gonna get me through my computer science semester. Up until this point I had a bunch of smaller drives I had acquired for free, carrying around one per class/project. I was looking for something small that would be tough and wouldn't get lost. I wanted something I could attach to something but also had the terrible luck of losing lids or having the plastic that attached to a ring or lanyard break off so losing them was the other problem. I came across this little guy and wasn't expecting much, but upon arrival I immediately fell in love. This little drive was immediately added to my key ring and has been carried everywhere I have been the last two years. It has survived being dunked in beer, yanked off its port (would not recommend!), gotten thrown everywhere my keys have and has still held countless files for me- some of which I use regularly and others which are only temporary transfers. The only reason I have bought two of these is not having it returned. I bought a second one January of this year and this one seems to be holding up just as well.
I love that it's small, light and so tough! I have back ups, but I trust this drive with all my daily digital files.

What a great little key drive!

Don't waste your time worry about this drive's read/write speeds and all that other junk. Most of us use these items infrequently enough that we don't need to even think twice about the speeds at which you can theoretically write to the drive. In most cases you're going to be limited by your computer's hard drive write speed and how much stuff your antivirus is doing at the time you're trying to move the files around... It's plenty fast and I've not had any issues with file transfer speeds.

The most important thing to know about this key-drive is that it's pretty much indestructible. Over the last 10 years, I've had almost every type of key drive that you can possibly imagine (flip open, thumb open, retractable, cap covered, tube encased, etc) from almost every manufacturer. This is the ONLY one that I've had that's lasted me 6 months and hasn't broken on me yet! I have a rather large set of keys that I attach my key drives to and I somehow always manage to break them in under 6 months... This one can handle a serious beating, or keying, or pocket abusing, or whatever you'd like to call it. It's not showing any signs of damage at all and looks like it did the same day I received it in the mail.

I just got a prompt to review a recent purchase,...and I will review my SP Silicon Power 64 GB thumb drive. I've been looking for a larger thumb drive. I have several 16 GB and one 32 GB thumb drives that I liked and worked fine. I put tons of stuff on them as we all do these days. Pictures, music, videos, documents. However all those perfectly good drives have broken off my ring from the flimsy little ring that all those have. This one has the great design of the metal ring as part of it. I was paralyzed with indecision on getting a new one when I would read about speed of how quick one loaded or not. I don't know from that. It all hurt my head trying to decide all that. To me it's still miraculous this little damn thing can hold so much stuff. It may take 10 or so minutes to load the already heavy sided 10- 15 GB of stuff I have on my other drives. To me it's all good. I can wait.

Also, I remember when 8 and 16 GB were 60, 70, 80 dollars. Memory was ridiculous, price wise. I got this thing for 23 something on Amazon. I've recommended it to my brothers, friends,....even my wife. So far so good. I think it's great! Highly recommend. There you go! My review. And an honest, currently on my mind one, too.

I did a whole bunch of research before I settled on this flash drive and I'm quite happy that I did. I wanted a large capacity flash drive to put on my key chain to carry around my photos and music, should something happen to my home. My first backup is an external hard drive which stays in my home. I wanted something to carry with me at all times and would fit on my key chain. I already have an Integral encrypted, password-protected flash drive for my documents. I didn't need encryption for my music and pictures. I looked in Amazon at many drives. Many didn't have keychain loops. Of those that did, this seemed the best. The similar-looking Kingston Digital Data Traveler had several accounts of the insides falling out. I didn't want to take that chance. The San Disk Cruzer Fit seemed very small and more suited for a laptop or car stereo and not to be taken off and put on. Also the loop seemed too small for my keychain. The Patriot Pulse Series had one comment that it was not good for a key chain, as the cap would fall off. Most of the rest were not made for key chains. I have had this for a while, now, constantly deleting my old picture backup and replacing it with a new one (my music doesn't change that much). First of all, it feels quite sturdy and fits beautifully on my key chain. Banging around with my keys doesn't seem to have affected it. No sign of the insides falling out and never a crash. It inserts well into both my computer and my girlfriend's. I am not an expert on speed, but it seems to be on a par with most flash drives. By the way, I took one person's advice that the 128 GB flash drives are not that stable, yet. So I am very pleased with this purchase and recommend it enthusiastically for anyone looking for a large capacity flash drive for their key chain.

This is a great drive. Since it is a 64 gig drive if you try to load MP3 or MP4 files to play on your MP3 players or video players you may likely have a problem. Here is the problem and solution:
Drives over 32 gig will by default be formatted to exFat 32 in newer version of Windows. While files can be stored on the thumb drive after you format, the music or video players (or video computer applications like VLC media player) will not play the files.
You will need to reformat the thumb drive to regular Fat 32. You can try to do it via a command line prompt but it did not work for me. Instead, there is a free program called MiniTool Partition Wizard (you can get it from the CNET website and it is free):
http://download.cnet.com/MiniTool-Partition-Wizard-Free/3000-2094_4-10962200.html
Follow the directions to create a formatted Fat 32 drive and your music and video files will play. I also tested it on three HP one terabyte and they also worked.

Works like a champ both in generous storage (2016) and reliability. The stylish design is absolutely beautiful. It works well going in and out of USB even with large finger, such as mine.

Note:
If you have ever tried to use large gigabyte-capacity USB (Flash) drives to watch, say a show and it doesn't work, here are two tips:

1. Make sure your files are encoded in MPGII (DVD quality) unless your USB in your DVD player is compatible with MP4 or other formats.
2. Your large capacity USB drive must be formatted to FAT32. This is something Windows does not do, but by searching 'FAT32 Format,' you should be able to find a utility that does this.

Hope that helps

I bought 20 of these as a give-away for a training event I was organizing. When loading the data onto them, one "died" and reported as "write-protected" when trying to reformat. I was in the process of writing to SP to make a warranty claim when I noticed that their web page had a downloadable utility for low level format of their devices. I ran the application and my "dead" drive came back to life. Very happy with the drive, love the design, and the relatively huge loop makes it easy for my fat fingers to insert and remove this tiny bit of metal from a usb port. The only down side I can see is that the small size could make it easier to lose in a pocket.
